There is a lot happening in the 757 this weekend! Here are just a few of the local events that caught our eye! If you have an event coming up let us know! Our lists are seen by over 2k HRVA locals per week!

Saturday, May 24th

Free Ice Cream Day, Gelati Celesti Store Grand Opening-Virginia Beach
Scoops of joy coming to Hilltop! Join us and celebrate the Grand Opening of our new Virginia Beach store, located at 754 First Colonial Road in the Hilltop West Shopping Center.

BigSplash Grand Opening Weekend at the Waterside District-Norfolk
The 144-foot water slide features 2 unique routes, which are powered by a state of the art water filtration system, pumping out over 1.2 million gallons of water per hour. Riders can reach top speeds of 60 miles per hour on the adventure course, or the more family oriented sidewinder at a leisurely 15 miles per hour.

Little Shop of Horrors at the Little Theatre of Norfolk
The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!

Marbled Mugs: Make-it with MOCA-Virginia Beach
Make it with MOCA is a craft series open to students of all levels of experience who are interested in making something by hand and having a fun Friday night! No art experience is necessary. Registration includes materials and choice of wine, beer, or soda. Instructor: Jade O’Day

Drive In Movie Night: The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part-Fort Eustis
Come in your car, bring your lawn chairs…. we are having a Drive In Movie Night

Live on the Lawn: Summer Concert Series-Virginia Beach
SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
Every Friday 5:30-8pm | Memorial Day to Labor Day
Bring your family and lawn chairs and meet us on Shore Drive for an evening of fun at our Bayville Farms location. This weekly concert series features live music, grass-fed beef burgers and hot dogs on the grill, local craft beer and wine, and much more. Our regular café menu is also available. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, spend Fridays with us at Live on the Lawn. Music starts at 5:30pm.

Live Music on the 7th Street Stage-Virginia Beach
Join us at Chix on the Beach all summer long for live music on the 7th Street Stage!

Saturday, May 25th

36th Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival-Virginia Beach
The 36th Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival is just around the corner. Join us and help celebrate our country-style, alcohol-free festival that is held over Memorial weekend each year. The Award-winning Festival has grown from 5,000 in 1984 to its present size.
Arts & Crafts, a grand parade, four stages with continuous entertainment, pony rides, down-home-style food, an Agriculture and Armed Forces display area, carnival rides for all ages, 4H events, a youth art exhibit, pig races and as always, mouth-watering strawberries. The Festival is a non-profit organization and prides itself on its ability to give back to the community. All proceeds donated to non-profits and service organizations. We are proud to have returned over $1.2 Million to the community.

Buckroe Beach Farmers Market-Hampton
Buckroe Beach Farmers Market season begins Saturday, May 4th 9am – 1pm and runs Saturdays until November 16th. Expect to find local goodies, fresh fruits and vegies, fantastic artists and much more. Some blackout dates are scheduled. Visit www.villageevents.org for more information.

Dino on the Loose at the Virginia Living Museum-Newport News Join our walking T. rex for a dinosaur parade, photo ops and a roaring good time on the Dinosaur Discovery Trail! This event is weather permitting.

Memorial Day Cookout at Maker’s Craft Brewery-Norfolk
Come grab some brews and fresh grilled grub. Items will be for sale to include hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork and corn on the cob!!!
This Saturday from 12pm to 9pm! So make sure you come with an empty stomach. The talented Jim Newsom & Rick Jebavy will be providing some dope tunes from 5pm to 8pm. The humidor will be open until 10pm, so visit the humidor while you’re at it.

Sunday, May 26th

Beachside Social Yoga-Virginia Beach
We are making our way over to VB! If practicing on the sand is not your jam, we gotchu covered! Shuffle on over to Beachside Social and join us on the mat for a morning of fun! We will flow on the shuffle board courts to some fun tunes and great views. Post class enjoy a $3 mimosa, yummy food, or get yo shuffle on!

Groovin’ by the Bay Summer Concert Series-Hampton
This Summer, join us on Sunday nights for a groovin’ evening of live music at Buckroe Beach at the 2019 Groovin’ by the Bay Summer Concert Series! Experience the bay breeze under the stars while partying to the best of old school r&b, funk, jazz infused, beach music. Food vendors are on-site. Complimentary shuttle service is available on Sundays, 3:30pm-9:30pm, from Jones Magnet Middle School located at 1819 Nickerson Blvd.

Mud and Mimosas at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center-Newport News
This class is for students with no clay experience that want to have fun while exploring pottery. You’ll take a spin on the wheel, sculpt by hand – or both! Our Teaching Artist will guide you through the basics and you might even finish a piece of your very own! You’ll receive one complimentary mimosa at check-in. You may also “BYOB” or purchase by the bottle at the front desk. Class fee includes clay and one glazed and fired piece. $5.00 firing fee for additional pieces. ONE DAY CLASS!

Monday, May 27th

Memorial Day Ceremony-Norfolk
Join us as the city honors the courage and sacrifice of our military service members. The ceremony will take place at Wisconsin Square. The Mayor’s Commission on Veterans Affairs and the City of Norfolk is proud to sponsor this annual event. Keynote speaker is U.S. Representative Elaine Luria, 2nd Congressional District.

USO Warrior Week-Virginia Beach
The City of Virginia Beach and the USO have designed this one-of-a-kind event for our wounded, ill, and injured service members and their families. USO Warrior Week offers private events varying in skill level and interests all in one location, helping create a lasting family memory for all to enjoy! Events include adaptive: surfing, skydiving, kayaking, cycling, coastal fishing, horsemanship, waterskiing, air rifle clinics, workouts, and more!

Annual Memorial Day Ceremony-Virginia Beach
Join Mayor Robert “Bobby” Dyer and the Mayor’s Veterans Committee as they host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony, Monday, May 27 at noon at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial, 1000 19th Street, across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Virginia Beach Surf Art Expo Stroll the Virginia Beach Boardwalk and enjoy the amazing creations of surf art from near and far! This longtime event is partnered with the Steel Pier Surf Classic and embraces the art of surfing in every form, whether it’s observing the sport of surfing, or featuring surf artists along Va. Beach Boardwalk.
